VACANCY

Animal Care Assistant (permanent)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident person to join our team of animal care assistants.
The ideal candidate would have experience of working in a busy kennel environment
This is a full time position (37.5hrs)
Hours are 8.00am to 4.30pm, working 10 days out of 14 on a rota basis to include weekends.

You will also be required to stay overnight onsite once a week or when required
(overnight allowance paid)

You've got to be not worried about getting dog poo on you... dogs like to jump up ;)
Not scared of getting mucky and can handle dog farts and cat litter smells
There's lots of cleaning to do... and then some more cleaning...

Key responsibilities and tasks include
Working in our busy rescue centre ensuring a high standard
Liaising with customers and their pets
All aspects of kennel duties - cleaning, enrichment, husbandry etc
Supporting fundraising activities
Coaching/mentoring new staff/work placements



Person Description

Applicants should possess the following:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Team player
  • Confident communication skills
  • Able to interact with public and ability to deal with people in sometimes emotional /challenging situations
  • Relevant Animal care experience and/or qualification (HND/HNC level or equivalent desirable) and confidence in handling dogs and cats
  • Experience in a rehoming position an advantage
  • Recognised Qualification in behaviour/training would be a bonus
  • Flexible Reliable and trustworthy
  • Excellent customer service
  • Good IT skills
  • Provide key holder duties in case of sickness/emergency where applicable.
  • Full drivers licence (manual)
    (you will have vet runs, collections or dog park runs to do)

Mrs Murrays home for Cats and Dogs is current seeking an Assistant Manager to join our exceptional team. Working closely with our animals, employees, volunteers and the public, we are looking for that passionate individual who is either already in a management role or is ready to take that step into management and support Aberdeen’s only Home for stray Dogs and Cats.

This role is full time, averaging 37.5hrs per week on a shift system basis, and offers a competitive salary and benefits.

It is essential that you have experience working with animals in a similar environment, have a qualification at HND Animal Care or similar and a clean UK driving license. Some supervisor experience would be preferred but is certainly not essential as full training can be provided. An interest or qualification in dog behaviour/training is desirable.
